Dragon warrior monsters1/1/2023 ![]() ![]() As you progress into the adventure and battle creatures, the defeated monsters will randomly ask if they can join your team. Like Pokemon, you don't battle - it's the creatures that battle for you. This adds a lot to the overall playability, since it eliminates a lot of the repetitive back/forth gaming.you never really know what's ahead or where everything is. What's more, the terrain in each section is completely randomized, so you'll never find items or layouts twice in the same way. The adventure is segmented in parts that are accessible through the Travelers' Gates, and each of the gates are opened after completing certain tasks. The king doesn't send you off on your own - nope, he gives you an old Monster to help you find and battle other creatures in the wild. Only then will you be able to find your sister. Instead of helping you find your sister, the king enlists you as the kingdom's Monster Master, the person who will win the monster tournament. You begin pursuit and wind up in a tree kingdom. The story goes something a little like this: While Terry and his sister sleep soundly (well, it's really Sis that's asleep), a monster comes and steals the little girl away. The more you fight them, the higher their skills and more abilities they earn. The game puts you in the role of a Monster master, where you must train and battle the world's monsters against each other. We don't even know if they'll even do another one.Dragon Warrior Monstersis a traditional Japanese RPG, but its foundation is to do what Pokemon did, but better: offer a variety of battling creatures, and lots of them. Maybe if XI sells well enough we might get the next DQM game, but nobody knows for sure. They also made a couple mobile spoinoffs (DQM Parade and DQM Super Light) but they're quite different, and again: Japan-only.īasically the series seems to do fine in Japan, but its pretty much dead outside. DQMJ3P is supposedly the end of the Joker sub-series. The remake of the first game ("DQM Terry's Wonderland 3D") and Joker 3 (the vanilla version) have fantranslations to english, if you're interested. In Japan, they released 4 games for 3DS: the two remakes of DQM1 and DQM2, and the third Joker game and its Professional version. (We didnt get any DQ game at all for a few years and it was asumed to be due to Joker 2's performance) ![]() ![]() The second game apparently bombed quite hard, so we didn't get any more DQM games after that. They made three games for DS: DQMJ1, DQMJ2 and DQMJ2 Profesional (an upgraded version with more monsters and story). In the DS years, they started the DQM: Joker sub-series. After DWM2, they made a game for GBA called DQM Caravan Heart but it had big mechanic changes and stayed in Japan. ![]()
